You can try giving him sips of water from a spoon, he may take this better than from a bottle as he will be expecting milk from this and will be a little surprised at just getting water! Another way is to buy a natural sponge which you can sterilise and soak up the cooled boiled water then keep his lips moist if he seems very hot and dry around the mouth. Don’t be tempted to flavour or sweeten the water with fruit juices at this age, he will get used to having water if you persist.
hi you can but in boots these little jars of slightly flovoured water for babies i use to get then there only cheep but i cant remember if it says 4weeks on the jar or 4 months to be given from am sure its 4 weeks there good idea.xx
put him a tiny bit of baby juice in it?? Thats what I do with my son x
He's bottlefed Yeah that makes sense, already put 7.5 oz water for a 7 oz feed anyway. Might put in 8 oz from now tho.
I've been trying to giev my 14 week old some water every day in this hot weather but he doesn't like it. He takes a mouthful then screws his face up and spits out what he has taken. Has anyone got any ideas what I could try to persuade him to take it? I'm worried about him getting dehydrated.
Is your LO breastfed or bottlefed? The h/v told me last year that a breastfed baby doesn't need extra water as in hot weather you will produce more watery milk to compensate, so it's only when babies are bottlefed or started weaning that water's necessary. For a bottlefed baby, just put more water in each feed, as long as they're still taking as much formula on then they'll be getting extra water on top too. Hope helps and makes sense! Em x
i have to slightly warm olivias. to about bottle temp and she takes about 4 oz then. she does the same if its cold xx
