Antenatal Psychosis

Hi, Please can anyone advise me what to do. I have just been diagnosed with antenatal psychosis, which may turn into puerperal psychosis after the baby is born. I am only 14 weeks and I am scared out of my mind. I had PP after my first child was born, but was told that the chances of it happening again were slim as I was under the psychiatrist. Is there any advise on this illness, in order that I can deal with it without medication? Please someone email me with some hope. Thanks

What exactly is antenatal psychosis? Or Puerperal pschosis, is it basically antenatal and postnatal depression? I'm not sure...
It is an illness that affects 1 in 1000 women after the birth of the baby and usually sets in around day 3. It is linked to post natal depression but you are not in touch with yourself or the world around you. When I had it first time round I thought my son was able to kill people by just looking at them, so I did not let anyone come to the house.

Psychosis is a very frightening thing as it involves halucinations and sometimes suicidal thoughts and anxiety and stress.

I hope this helps anyone out there who works on the area of mental health who may be able to get me some further information. As there is little known about this illness and obviously people don't know it can happen.
