At what age is it safe to give babies cooled boiled water to keep them hydrated, my baby is only 1 week old and I'm unsure.
You don't say if baby is breastfed or bottle. I know for sure if breast then there's no need at all, your milk will be more watery in hotter weather to makesure baby gets the right balance.
hi, babies dont need water as their milk feeds hydrate them enough. I was also worried, but have been told by various health visitors that if anything, babies might need feeding more frequently in this hot weather x cooled boiled water is ok to use if baby is constipated, but other than than it can fill baby up making subsequent feeds more difficult. Hope this helped :)
hi i give my baby cooled boiled water and he is 5 weeks old, i think it is fine to give from birth but just not to much so that they still take there milk but at 1 week old it is best to feed on demand and the milk will keep your baby hydrated as there was a post on here the other day about this ans the midwife alison brown(expert on this website) sed that milk will be fine for them just give it to them when they need it rather than evry three hours , but if you do feel that you need to give your LO water prob just half an OZ at a time will do hope this helps,
Hi, I got told it was fine from birth, I had my baby i winter so it wasn't too important for me but Im sure it's fine from birth. x
