Teething?

Hi, I am probably wrong as i have been told he is too young but here goes - Thomas is 9weeks and is dribling everywhere and really trying to bite his hands, i've tried looking at his gums and can't see anything that looks sore but then it was difficult to get him to keep his mouth open and sit still lol i know they can show early signs of teething it can last for months until the tooth appears, thankfully he doesn't seem to be in pain but he is usually ok witout his dummy unless he is hungry or tired but everytimes i take it away or it falls out he gets really ratty and he is really chewing it? has anyone else had this problem or could it be something else? Hi
My LO is 7wks old and is my third son and I know that he is teething, like your son he is dribbling etc and his gums look ready to pop, my HV basically told me I am insane to think that he is teething but as a mum of 2 older children as well I do have a little experience lol! I have always found the Ashton and Parsons (i think they are called) powders that you put onto their tongue they are very good and obviously calpol and calgel. I think it definetely sounds like he is teething although remember that from the very beginning to the actual tooth emerging from the gum can take MONTHS! X
Thanks for the advice, i know that they can start early with nothing appearing for ages so i think it is that, he has always been putting his hands in his mouth particually when he is hungry but now he is really trying to bite them lol the dribble is everywhere i'm not to worried if he is in pain then i will try and give him something for it, he is a big baby very long and looks like hes about 4 months nobody believes me when i tell them how old he is i teethed quite early as a baby too and they say that babies can follow their parents - but i'm not worrying about it till he starts the screaming lol thanks for letting me know i'm not the only one!! xxx

A thing to remember though is that around that age your child is discovering their hands, the way they do this is put them in their mouths. They are facinated by them, they are just starting to realise that they belong to. The first thing they do is eat them all the time, then you will notice them staring at their hands, until eventually using them to hold other things and put them in their mouths. Babies use their mouths to discover what things are.
Yes I totally agree but its when they are putting their hands in their mouths along with other 'symptoms' that you know they are beginning to teeth, sore bottoms, upset tummies, swollen, red gums they will usually cry if you press on a red area, more unsettled than usual etc.
