I don;t know if you would want to use this or have heard of it but my friends little baby used this stuff for Colic u can only get over the counter ( I can't remember what it's called at the mo!).....
She had to mix her feeds thou and then put some in there i think she had to leave it for like half and hour or so but she swore by this stuff think it was over £10 a pop but she said it helped....
Just depends what u wanted to do....I know she also used to put the baby on her tummy as this seemed to ease the pain a bit.
xx
I do sympathise with you. It is such a difficult time coping with any baby who has colic in this way. It can be extremely tiring for parents, and you feel so helpless not being able to calm and comfort your baby. I had one like this myself, and I remember it well.
There are so many different explanations for colic, and no easy answers if anyone had discovered them, we would all have heard about it years ago. Colic crying does have some distinctive features:
• It usually starts when babies are around 2-3 weeks old.
• It is usually worse in the late afternoon or early evening.
• It sometimes seems worse after feeding. Babies often pull up their legs as if in pain.
• It appears to start for no reason, and crying can go on for very long periods.
• It can be very difficult to comfort a baby’s crying.
• It always gets better after three-four months.
Nonetheless, there are some things that can help:
• Keep reminding yourself that this will only last for a very short time in your baby’s life. Excessive crying always goes down after about three-four months.
• Lots of physical contact, cuddles and stroking do go some way to help even if they may not completely stop all crying.
• All the usual tips you would try for crying help to some extent –sucking, rocking, music, car rides.
• Some babies are helped by gentle pressure on their tummies or warmth from a hot water bottle. (Never hot, just warm).
• There are a whole range of over-the-counter remedies for colic, some of them homeopathic. There is no real evidence that any of these work, but some parents swear by different ones.
Try to enjoy all the calm, relaxed times when your baby is not crying.
i saw my HV with my first son as he had bad colic, they came out to my house and showed me how to do colic massage and this really helped as it moves the wind around the tummy and helps them get rid of it, but be warned they can poo when you do this to them, i would go and ask your HV if they can show you how to do this xx
have u tried infacol? teddy started getting colicky at 3 weeks so i used infacol for nrly all his feeds for two weeks and now he is fine! it worked instantly for him :)
Someone told me yesterday about baby yoga, I did it on my daughter yesterday as she was severly constipated and maybe had a bit of colic and today she is soooo much better. Hold your baby at the knees and push their knees into their belly and cirle them clockwise. I found it on youtube too so I ccould actually see how it was done x
forgot to mention that 'coleif infant drops' are realy effective which is wat ive been using although they are realy quite expensive i would recommend to mums in desperate need... its simple all you do is put 4 drops in every bottle half an hour before your babies feed!!
