Toddler crying.

It sounds as if this is the only way she can express herself, as she's probably not talking yet. Try to be patient, give her a cuddle, but explain to her that her behaviour isn't acceptable. Once she's learnt to talk, the tantrums will probably stop as she will be able to tell you what's upsetting her.

My toddler has started having huge tantrums where she shouts and screams, which often results in her bursting into tears. She often seems really distraught, but she won't tell me why. Can anyone help?

I have a baby so don't know that much about toddlers but it sounds as if this is how your daughter is communicating her feelings. I also think some calm time with cuddles might help.

My toddler often has tantrums which sound pretty similar to the ones you're talking about; although some people say you should ignore the tantrum, I've been told that another method is cuddling the toddler to calm them down. I've tried this method and it sometimes works.

My toddler's almost two and has big tantrums as well, often in public places which can be difficult! If we're at home, I try to ignore her behaviour and let her calm down. I've been told it's their way of communicating and is pretty normal at this age, although it can be frustrating to both parent and child. I'm hoping it's a phase, but I try to be as patient with her as possible.
