Producing milk/colostrum - when?

My baby is due this week and I don't seem to be producing any milk or colostrum yet, will this kick off soon? I have just read that I should have started producing colostrum at 6 months! Worried now!

Just because you've made some doesn't necessary mean it's going to come pouring out at 6 months. I never saw anything until my LO arrived before and at 38 weeks this time nothing's happened yet again, really don't worry. Even for the first few days when baby arrives you only make like a teaspoon apparently, it's not until day 4-7 that it starts flooding in, and then you'll be glad you weren't one of the unlucky ones leaking from month 6 of pregnancy!!
Hey everyone - thanks so much for the reassurance, means a lot. You can only prepare so much can't you and there are some things that are totally out of your hands. I feel much better now. Cheers again!

Hi, thanks for that. Yes I have given it a try, but only the tiny tiniest bit has come out. Does this improve and get kick started by the baby? What happened with you?
It was only the tiny tiniest bit with me too, it was in the shower I tried it, I just wanted to see what would happen. As someone else said when you go into Labour your body kick starts the hormones to produce the colostrum/milk.

Have you tried to give your boob a wee squeeze to see if anything comes out? I did one day just before I was due and a tiny bit came out. That was the only way I knew it was there, they didn't leak or anything like that which I had read would happen.
