20 Week Scan

Hey everyone, I went for my 20 week scan yesterday, it was amazing to see flump again, the little monster was facing into me though so we didnt get a very good picture this time..... proving to me that it really is my child hehe! Found out that were having a little girl!! We thought we were, just had a feeling really! On my notes it says I have anterior placenta, I was just wondering if this was anything to worry about, and because its like a cushion between me and baby, when I should be worried that I'm not feeling her move a great deal. Thankyou emmaandflump xx

Makes no difference if your placenta is positioned anterior (At the front) or posterior (At the back) so long as its not covering part of your cervix (Known as placenta praevia) which can be a problem during labour. The only issue with it being anterior is that it can muffle the sound of your babies heart beat when the midwife tries to listen to it, other than that you should be fine. As far as movements go it may well act as a cushion (I've heard and read of people with the same problem, it affects different people differently) but you should still be feeling the occasional big one. Congratulation on the little girl :)

hi,i had my 20 wk scan yesterday aswell hun,im expectin twins so it was quite hard for sonographer 2 get her measurements from twin 2(boy) cos he was hiding behind twin 1(girl) so im goin bak next week. my placentas are anterior and posterior and nothin was mentioned about eitha 1 bein a problem.
i luved seein them both move twin 1 posed for every measurement and even turned right round so we cud c everything really clearly, twin 2 stayed in 1 position with his bum facin us the whole time but his legs didnt stop movin and he looked like a frog swimmin lol xx

i have the same and it just means it might take a little longer to feel the initial kicks and such, in the end i didnt feel her move until about 22 weeks i think, however now she is a wriggly little monkey most of the time now. Although what you feel is also dependant on how much fluid you have around the baby, i am right down in the 10th centile so there isnt much around her so i can feel more (i think thats how it works lol) x
