I drive a vw beetle convertable and the only car seat which would fit in my car was a maxi cosi cabrio with a easy fix base (which i bought) as i have no isofix points, this week we have changed my car (sob sob) for a Ford Kuga 4x4,which does have isofix points, also hubbys car has isofix points too,so is it worth me taking back the easy fix base and buying the isofix base instead? are they safer then just the easyfix which is used with the seat belt?? Any advice would be helpful as it is really playing on mind,i just want the baby to be as safe as possible in the car!
Thanx for that hun,i think i'am gonna take back the easy base and get the isofix now you've said that...
I'm also very sad to see my beetle go,but i bought an icandy apple pram and it just won't go in there,so the beetle is going,we're hopfully picking up the kuga today, feel abit like a wag getting this 4x4 but is nice lol - and most of all sensible! My partner hates my beetle and always has done so he won't be sad when we drive away from it! I love the new minis too so i know how you'll feel when the day comes when you give it up!
Hey Hun, So spookey reading your post. I currently drive a Mini Cooper (new one) and we are desperately trying to change it for a Ford Kuga!!! how wierd is that, i'm also very sad to see my Mini go but never mind the Kuga is really cool and sooooo much bigger. You can barely fit a packet of crisps in the boot of the Mini lol!!!
I have been back and forth with the whole car seat thing and the bit of info which made me decide was this. When the car seat is in the seat belt fastening they have that split second reaction time for the seat belt to lock in when you brake hard. When the seat is fixed into the isofix points it is attached to the chassis of the car so when you brake, the seat also locks in and brakes, but instantly, no delay.
I think we are going to go for the Maxi Cosi car seat with the Isofix base that can be either seatbelt or Isofix, but use the isofix most of the time (just in case we change car or go in someone elses).
Sorry to ramble and hope that helps. Let me know what you think of the Kuga now you have it, might make me feel better about saying goodbye to my little munchkin car!!. X X
