dangerous job

Hi, I am ttc, however i work in an acute mental health hospital. We have patients who can be violent and agressive. I am hyper aware now just in case im already pregnant. We sometimes have to restrain people, but i have not been getting involved. I dont really want to tell anyone im ttc, but they might start noticing me staying out of harms way. Not sure what to do really. Does anyone else have a similar issue??

I work in a hospital on a respiratory ward & although we don't always have patients that are violent, we do tend to have a lot of heavy patients & as soon as i found out that i was pregnant i had to tell my manager who had to do a risk assesment to say that i was restricted to certain moving & handling procedures!!
I also wanted other staff members to know as i didn't want them to think i was refusing to help them or just being slack x

Hey i work with autistic adults. I would mention to ur boss/work mates that as u are trying to conceive, if there are situations where u can not be involved could they accommodate u with that? Obviously if there is a situation where there is 1 staff member getting attacked then u should go to his/her aid unless u know u are pregnant in which case they are legally required to do risk assessment and keep u safe x

If your baby could be at risk as soon as you conceive then it's probably worth having a quiet chat with your manager and tell them you're worried. If you don't tell them they might get funny about you not getting involved. I know it is awkward having to discuss your personal life but the most important thing is yours and the future babies health. Good luck x

maybe you could tell people that you are trying for a baby and therefore it is best you do not get involved in restraints to be safe.
