Oh, ok.Thanks. But they specifically tell you what it is they are doing and what it is for and about possible results etc.? I havent had any information through yet, and some information seem different for each hospital or Care trust so Im just wondering whether this is standard procedure. To be honest, I think I'd like to know.
i see your in the west midlands. im in the midlands too - nuneaton. here your midwife gives you the forms for your bloods & you go to the hosp & have them done when it suits you. you dont book, just turn up at the path lab & wait. its the same with the tripple test but its not compulsory like the other 2 sets of blood tests. my midwife explained what the test was for & gave me a leaflet on it so you will be informed about what all your tests are & why they're being done. if you want to know a bit more about it you could google it as there's plenty of info on the net to give you a heads up xx

So does everyone get offered these tests or is it personal choice? I dont quite get it. I havent had my midwife appointment yet (8weeks) but when do they do this? thanks
It should be offered to everyone & is done at 16 weeks. You can say no tho if you dont want it done so in that respect its personal choice. Its not like the blood tests you have at 12 & 28 weeks. Your midwife should explain it all to you at your booking in appointment. Hope this helps xx

It all depends on what you would do depending on the results of the test....if that makes sense!?
Im 34 weeks pregnant with my second baby & said no to it both times. We both decided we would never terminate the pregnancy so there was no point in having the test. My midwife too was pleased with my response when she brought it up. Its a really personal choice & only one you & your partner can make. Dont get worked up over it tho! xx
Thanks ladies. I am now almost 18 weeks and didnt have it done, Like many of you said if it would make no difference I may as well not have it at all! I am praying all is well and looking forward to my 20 week scan! xx

i had the triple test done which i didnt in my first pregnancy! i didnt feel the need 2 when i was still quite young but my first cousin recently had a still born and the baby was downs, she is around my age 2 so my midwife did advise me to get it done you nothing to lose it only a simple blood test! thankfully my results came back great they said i had a 1 in 27,000 chance but every1 has different opinions and feelings towards the test my advise is do whatever you feel best you know yourself better than any1 xxx

Thanks ladies....love gurgle. So nice to have all this input from other people going through the same. I have told the midwife I dont want it. I completely understand the reasons those of you have given for taking it, just for me I was getting more stressed about the idea of having it and waiting etc. Thanks to you all for your replies...xxxx
