Feeding Confusion!!!!

My son is almost a year old and we started weaning a week before he turned 6 months. From 6 months I dropped 3 of his 6 bottles and introduced a breakfast, lunch and dinner. Now he is almost a year old I don't know where to take his eating habits next. I would like to aim towards him having the same eating habits as myself and my partner with healthy snacks and drinks in between but is this right? Also my son is not allowed eggs, soya or dairy due to his eczema.

You are exactly right in wanting to get your son eating normal family meals alongside you and your husband. By the time a child is one that should really be the aim. The more you can eat together with him, and he can see what you are having, the better. He should really just be having a smaller portion of the foods you are eating as a family, well chopped or mashed. Also, don’t add salt to his portion. If you are having very spicy foods or things he can’t manage, like the eggs or dairy, then of course you may have to prepare him a different dish some of the time. It is a little bit tricky because of the things he is not allowed due to his eczema, but this still leaves plenty of foods he can share in a normal family diet. Remember babies of this age can’t go long periods without food because of their high energy needs, so he is likely to still need morning and afternoon snacks. Make these healthy options such as banana, carrot sticks, apples.
