please help!!!!!

hi my sister has just gone thru this wee jake waqs born 9 weeks early she had pre eclampsia n he had 2 be delivered by c section n like carlymummy said the cheat 1ns you can buy with them awfull brown teats on work a treat he loves them he had his tube removed last week n is home now n weights a healthy 51b 9oz.go n but 1 of everybottle n teat on the shelf n see theres got to be 1 the wee 1 will have.good luck.xx

I realise your baby is a prem baby and I have never had a prem baby. Having said that I breast fed my son for 8 months and then had to transfer to a bottle (so I could have a bit of a life!!) It wasn't straight forward.
So generally because your babe is prem they require alot more energy to suck as mouth muscles are weak therefore until strong enough it maybe babe is just physically unable(look for signs of hand to mouth as an aid).
If your little one has had tubes poked around its mouth/nose it will not have been pleasant and for that it may help to retrain that a little by gentle stroking and touching the babes mouth before introducing the bottle.
When attempting a feed keep lights low, maybe soft music for you too keep you both relaxed or soft talk.
Lastly when babe finally starts to feed try to refrain from twisting or turning the teat as well as taking a babe out of a sleep as this can cause stress.
The type of teat can sometimes have an effect so if you find your successful and it alls goes awry try changing, every babe is different, mine loved tommee tippee but there's no hard rule on the bottle/teat.

Hi Tiegan like I said in my previous post to you that you may not have seen try different teats/bottles. It took 4 different ones until Noah took to his and until he did he couldn't come home :( I know how frustrating it is hun!
In the end the only bottles he would have was the cheap ones with the silicine teats like you can get in tesco/asda/poundland bit old fashioned but he liked the little tiny teat and it had to be fast flow not newborn. We tried the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature but he hated them, Avent hated them, hospital own hated them, Dr Brown hated them too! It really is trial and error, but the ones we ended up with are only cheap so worth a try. He will have any bottle now but he is 18wks! Good luck hun x
