Jasmine is teething (or at least I think she is)
Chomping on her hands constantly, very whingey lately, dribbling loads, hurts when she gums on my hand and gurning quite a lot last few days.
What can I do to help other than giving her stuff to chew on? Im not sure about baby bonjela as there have been reports on stomach disorders in older kids who used it. Do I give her some calpol? Any advice would be good girloes x
My friend who is a dentist told me the other day to buy a baby toothbrush and use it to massage his gums with some cooled boiled water to help the blood flow to his gums and help with teething. Not tried it yet myself, but might be worth a go? x
hi my darcie is also teething she has been like this for months and still no teeth there, ive used everything and the only thing that seems to help is bonjela, ive tryed the powders and teething rings but they dont seem to help. but also give her calpol on a night cos she been really bad through the night with them. x
You can buy teething toothpaste though im not sure what age you can start using this? will also get baby used to having a toothbrush in her mouth for when she has got some teeth! x
WHen my little one was teething he liked to chew on his Heinz feeding spoon. The end is quite rubbery and he had a really good knaw on it. It kept him happy for quite a while. When he didn't have it I kept it in the fridge.
Hi the normal bonjela is now not recommended for children under the age of 16 years old as it contains salicylate salts which can cause Reyes disease which may lead to liver and brain damage. Bonjela teething gel is different to bonjela and does not contain this and is safe to give to babies over 2 months old. If you feel your baby is in pain then it is fine to give Calpol, just make sure you check the advice sheet for the correct dosage for your baby’s age. (Only if your baby is over 2 months old) If she is over 6 months old then offer her cool foods such yoghurts. Cool drinks such as cooled boiled water from the fridge can also be soothing.
Hope this helps. Liz
Ah I have the teething bonjela gel so will use that then. I would never have used the adult one :)
She is just coming up to 6months so I will try her with some yoghurts too. Thanks Liz.
