car seats to deactivate front passenger seat air bag?

Just to stick my oar in, I think its terrible that turning off the air bag voids your insurance. Its surely much more dangerous to be distracted by a child in the back and not be able to see them properly when you are on your own in the car? I was annoyed enough at having to pay extra on my car to even get a de-activation switch fitted, and this is on a people carrier which are supposedly designed for kids! V annoying if you ask me....

hi, thanks for replying it turns out my husband had garbled the message when he'd gone to the garage! vauxhall will fit there own make of car seat and then turn the airbag off which doesnt then affect our warranty, but we've decided to put all the kids in the back with my eldest in the middle and baby on the end as we've got proper seat belt in middle seat so fingers crossed they'll all fit and problems solved.Going to hold off getting booster seat for charlotte for a little bit longer and keep her in car seat she's in now if we can.

I haven't seen any car seats that can deactivate the front passenger seat air bag. Most car seats have to be facing the back of the car for under 4 month old babies and some longer life ones can then be put facing the front of the car after, but even then they arn't allowed to be put in the front seat of a car if it has an air bag.

Hi, I had a baby 4 months ago and also have a vauxhall car. I rang them up to switch off my passenger side airbag and was told it voids your insurance if you do it. I dont think there is such a car seat that deacitvates the airbag dont see how that could work. I did do a lot of looking around at car seats and couldn't find one that I could put in the front. The answer would be to have a forward facing car seat then you don't have to switch of the airbags but it is finding one that is for babies under 9kg :-(

hi, my third babys due in 6 weeks and im just wondering if anyones heard of a car seat which fits in front passenger seat which can deactivate the air bag, we asked vauxhall to deactivate the air bag and it affects our car warrenty so they couldnt do it but they said theres a car seat which takes air bag off automatically but didnt give any makes . would really appreciate any advice or possible suggestions for car seat crisis! our cars a vauxhall vectra(5 door) 1.8 lr engine 56 plate.
