Im home with the baby isnt that grand! A tiny little bundle secure in my hands, But my body is aching, my minds in a whirl And all everyone keeps asking is it a boy or a girl? My neat little home used to look so spick and span But now it looks like an assault course designed by a man Oh where is the time to be by myself? Having a baby puts a strain on your health Dont worry im told your bound to feel blue your a mother now with plenty to do, But where is my time? Where is my space? Where has the smile gone from my face? My body is aching, Iv had stitches galore When will i feel the same as before? My new mans an old man slouched in a chair What was that he said about doing his share? He,s out hard at work, Is the common belief But a mother at home is also rushed off her feet Oh for a bath full of bubbles alone A book to read, A chat on the phone I just want to sit and eat a good meal Surely someone understands the way that i feel But dont worry baby, I really do care its just being a new mum is a lot to compare With the woman i was, In control of my life My partner mourns the loss of his lover and wife But i know we'll come through, We just need the time To adjust to our feelings and then we'll be fine So come on someone, Just understand Be there for me and hold my hand Just help me through this difficult part For these tears i am crying are straight from the heart
