sweet wise, try foods that arent gonna get too mashed into your carpets...those pink party ring biscuits are great...mcvities cake bars or mr kipling mini cakes are another fave too. savouries, try mini hotdogs or sausages,or warm sausage rolls, chicken dippers with diff sauces, mini baked potatoes are great as not too overwhemling for kids and you could make fillings using heinze kiddy sauces so they arent full of salt etc like adult stuff. try to avoid rice as if left too long and warm,it will breed germs. dont try too many chewy or boiled sweets for obv reasons! Tuc crackers go down well too as a savoury. mini chedders, wotsits and skips are great in bowls to help themselves.xx
We have found with parties we've done for our son, that hot food goes down much better than cold!!!
Mini pizza's, garlic bread, chicken dippers, potatoe wedges etc etc. not forgetting things like crisps, cocktail sausages, cakes etc.
We did loads of food for our sons 1st birthday & threw most the cold stuff away....no one touched the sandwiches but all the hot food plates were gone!
For his 3rd birthday we did a small selection of hot food for the kids like iv mentioned & then we cooked a load of jacket potatoes for the adults & did a big pot of baked beans, a big pot of chilli & a big pot of curry to serve with them! they went down a treat & everyone said how nice it was (even some of the kids had some!) we prepared the chilli etc the night before so it just had to be re heated & popped the jackets in the oven first thing xx
