I took my LO at 7 weeks. He loves it x
i took my son swimming before his first injections the health visitor says its fine and like kate said nhs website says its ok to go at any age i didnt bother with a baby swim seat untill my baby was older i found he was more confident being held in my arms he loves swimming and can already swim at age 2, hes been going to swimming classes from 3months old there really good it teaches them to be confident and dance & splash around to nursery rhymes in my area there always fully booked x
Thanks. I'd love to go before 3 months (had a look on internet and it seems thats when the seats start from) but just a bit worried about slippery baby and dropping him / her. Am definitely going to start going to baby swimming lessons. I saw a lady on holiday in France who came from Manchehester and she'd been taking her son swimming since he was very young. He was only 2 and could swim very confidently for short distances it was amazing to watch. I was 16 before i learnt and now i can only do breastroke! Am thinking of maybe going to lessons myself before baby born as i give up work on Friday. Don't know if pregnant people can join lessons but don't see what difference it makes when you're in the water really. Its not as if i'll be doing anything too strenuous! x
hiya took our daughter at 10 weeks.

This is from the NHS website - Babies can be taken swimming at any age. It doesn't matter if they haven't yet completed their course of immunisations.
The management of some leisure facilities suggest that babies shouldn't go swimming until they have had all of their jabs. This advice dates back to the time when polio was common, and people were concerned it would spread in busy places like public swimming pools.
Sometimes babies experience side effects after the MMR vaccine. These are generally quite mild, and should not prevent you taking your baby swimming. Babies who are feverish, or who get a mild form of mumps in the weeks after the vaccine, may not feel up to swimming for a few days.
Hey hun..contrary to popular belief..you can in fact take your baby swimming before/during or after their jabs. At least thats what was in the booklet they gave me after Jasmine 1st immunisation. :)
