hi just wanted 2 ask if any1 seen the channel 4 program 2nite and what they felt because i myself was disgusted that these age i dnt have a problem with gender change at all but think that any1 under the age of atleast 16 shouldnt even be entertained for treatment as they dnt really know there mind and once on this road its quite often irreversable sorry if i sound like a b***h but i love my children n would do anything 4 them but feel this was disgustingly extreme and going 2 far and just wondered wat any1 else thought on the subject
Personally I thought these children were way to young to understand the implications of their decisions and I wouldn't entertain the thought of giving drugs etc until they were at least 16.
The effects of puberty blockers and hormone drugs are irreversible, and I dont think a 12 even 14 year old has the capacity to judge all that comes with it. I was such a tomboy when I was a child, and must have said on several occasions I'd rather be a boy. I never wore skirts, I played with cars, climbed trees, but my parents nurtered my behaviour just as a case of individuality. I never did steretypical girls things, and always thought boys were way cooler. I never liked pink, and still dont. But that never meant my parents helped me change into a boy. I know there are cases in which people are born into the wrong body, and this is a fault with the embryo when its bathed in the hormones that determine its gender, but under 16s are too young to judge the life long results.
i think its such a hard subject.. because i think its one of those that you dont no what you would do unless you were in that sitution! from watching that programme you could see that the parents were finding it very difficult as well.. i just think its scary how young the children are!! i dont no what i would do if my child came home and told me all that.. i guess the only answer is to support them and try to help them make the right decision for them! x
hmmmm its 1 of them subjects where i fink theres lots of opinions! i was rather shocked 2 say the least! theres no way id let a child tell me they want a sex change at such a very young age! at end of day wot happens if the child had ova heard sum1 talkin abt it or had picked it up frm the tv n was jus copyin! u know wot kids imaginations r like! sum kids ave gr8 imaginations! if it was on goin through there childhood n they were in there teens then id sit down n ave a grown up chat abt it! i dont mind ppl that change there gender, but most ppl that do do this change at an older age! xx
yeah i do agree and i thought if my child did that id just see if theyd grow out of it but when the woman said that she walked in on her son holding his bits and some nail clippers....then i really wouldnt no wot 2 do in that situation :s
got it recorded so im just about to watch it will let you know thoughts!
