I had an ectopic last October and eversince my cycle lengths are wildly varying, 32 days, 21 days, 25 days, 29 then 21 days...you get the idea. According to my GP a bloodtest on day 21 'proves' I ovulate, but when??? And does this affect my chances of conception? I'm 38 and started having periods aged 8...is time simply running out?
Thanks for the replies. I tried ovulation sticks for 15 days in a row in the month I was tested whether I ovulated, they were all negative, but according to lab results I did ovulate...*sigh*...Just keep trying, I guess!

Unless you have an underlying condition I wouldnt have thought it would mean you are running out of time as you are ovulating according to docs. Your problem will be of course pinpointing exactly when that would be! I would recommend getting some cheap ovulation strips and testing from about day 5 (ie last day of AF) through your cycle. How I do it is if there is no line at all I leave it a few days then do another test until I get a line then test every day until ovulation result detected. Once you suss out when it is you may find you can tell by certain symptoms like mild AF cramping, difference in CM, tender breasts, increase in labido as well as some other possible ones. You can increase your chances of conception by doing baby dance every day around the time of ovulation - I did this for 5 days and it worked for me. Apparently chances of conception rise from about 20% to 50% worth having a go!! Obviously having healthy diet and cuting out alcohol and caffine help and you can take medication to help regularise your cycle if you have concerns, agnus castus is over the counter herbal remedy and Chlomid needs prescribing by docs. Good lucry I have gone on for a bit!! good luck hun xxx
