Can anyone recommend a good matress for a cotbed?

My sis in law is giving me a cotbed and need to buy a new matress but its a minefield out there. Is there any advice anyone can give me?

Best you can afford! As a cot/bed will last till their around 5 years old so the mattress will too. Mothercare have a good range and the space tech/cool max/pocket sprung mattress is the one we got about 4 years ago (about £150 to buy now) and its lasted brilliantly. As well as the zip of complete cover it has an extra zip of top which is all machine washable and is invaluable especially on the few occasions when our daughters been ill. Where going too buy the equivalent in a single size when she moves into a bigger bed at 5 years old next year. x
