wouldnt start as early as 3 weeks personally they way to young to understand their side of the bargain. lilys hv advised staring no earlier than 6 months coz thats when they start to cry purely for attention apparently. i didnt start til lily was closer to 9 months when i went back to work and needed more of a routine. x x
Thanks was jst wondering, he has been a good wee sleeper so far. :) x
i have heard that swaddling a baby can help as it makes them feel as though they are being cuddled i have not tried this myself as my daughter sleeps with her arms streched out but it may work or even jst using a sleeping bag.
yeah we swaddle Charlie, he seems 2 like it, he sleeps well x
Personally, I don't agree with leaving a baby to cry. I wouldn't say its cruel but a baby's only voice is a cry and they only cry for a reason. I'm not criticising anyone who chooses to use controlled crying as we all know whats best for our own children but its something I've never done or had to do with my daughter and I dont intend to do it with the baby Im carrying now.

What age do u think u can try controlled crying from?! Charlie is only 3 weeks but already is very spoilt and will cry until he is picked up, obv i would love to pick him up wen i can but wen u have things 2 do, its not all that easy. He seems to b ok most times going to sleep on his own, but last nite he wouldnt settled and in the end i just brought him in the bed with me and he was fine! xx

you sound like youve done ok so far well done. long as you stick at it and know that there is nothing wrong with her that she is crying for crying sake no harm in it. ive done controlled crying with my now 2 year old daughter quite alot and it works well for us most of the time. keep at it hun if youre comfortable with it, it wont take long. and your oh might find controlled crying more bareable as lo gets older and the "crying" becomes more whingey lol x x
Personally I don't agree with controlled crying, I think it's mean to leave a baby cry as they're crying for a reason. If your baby screamed so much she was loosing her voice did you not feel she needed something? I never left my kids to cry and my first slept through at 7 weeks and my second at 9 weeks (unfortunately we had to start waking him though as he stopped putting on weight!) I don't want to sound like I'm having a go, it's just my oppinion that 'controlled' crying isn't fair on babies. I wouldn't even leave my 2 year old to cry in bed!
