For mums with fussy eaters how do you cope with it?
Zac is getting worse by the day and now not only will he only eat white foods it has to be a certain style of pasta, the potato has to be cut a certain way, nothing is allowed to touch each other, it can't be too warm.
Basically the ONLY things he will eat is plain pasta (or a little sauce but no bits), toast, home made chips, boiled potatos cut in quarters and crisps when I let him.
Today at lunch I had the wrong pasta so he refused and I just told him it was that or nothing and he threw a massive tantrum for 15 minutes. He is now in bed having a nap after not eating anything since breakfast!
Im finding it really stressful. Last time I talked to the HV she was hopeless and his nursery is hopless at even telling me how much he eats let alone what.
Any ideas??
Hi, I went through the same with my first child, all she would eat was sausages, chips and bread. I went to the doctor countless times and they said there was nothing to worry about as she was growing and putting on weight normally. I was then advised to keep a food diary and that made me see exactly what she was eating. Also if you introduce the same food every day for a week rather than offering different foods all the time you;ll find that he will slowly come round to new foods. You really have to be patient, but if ur little guy isn't underweight or sick then there is nothing to worry about. I know it can be stressfull but kids also pick up on that and then it just ends up in a battle of wills! I also found sticker and reward charts were an excellent form of bribes!! Good luck, stay calm.
