SPD ?

I have seen my midwife today and she has confirmed I have SPD. I am 28weeks and it is killing me already I can hardly walk up the stairs let alone do the weekly shopping. She is refering me to the physio for treatment. I was wondering if any of you have SPD or have had it and could tell me what to expect when I go to the Physio.

Thanks ladies. I got my appointment through today for the 16th November so will just have to put up with it all till then. It is getting worse now. I can't even pick my 2 year old son up now without it hurting. He is being really good bless him even though he is way to young to understand he clearly knows mummy is in pain and gives me little hugs every time he walks past me. Fingers crossed the Physio can help.

I have had bad SPD and on cruthes since around week 10 but I did have a pre-existing pelvic dysfunction so expected it to get worse in pregnancy. My physio referred me to her colleage that does acupuncture and since then I have definately felt stronger in myself and able to be more active and prepare for labour. Before this I was really bad overnight as I couldn't get comfortable or turn without agony and averaging about 2-3 hours which does not help anyone to cope - so I would definately ask if this is an option for you. It hasn't been a miracle cure as yet but if some improvement can help to stay more active in preparation for labour it has got to be worth a try. All the best
ps I have borrowed a TENS machine and a support belt from my physio so ask about this before you buy anything

I have SPD too but haven't had my physio referral through yet - am thinking they forgot to send it!

Things I have found which help are wearing a support belt - you can buy them in mothercare / blooming marvellous etc .. mine has been a godsend! Also take paracetamol before bed, and in advance of any walking I know I need to do - weirdly paracetamol has never been any use to me before this but it has been a life saver! It doesn't fully take the pain away, but certainly takes the edge off for a while!

yeah thats about right but the pain is all over my hips in my back, down my legs. I could be doing nothing and the pain just starts form nowhere. Once the pain starts thats it for the day I can't do anything. It has been so bad for the last week it has had me in tears. My husband siad it must be bad as I never cry not even when he dropped a 14lb bowling ball on my foot and broke 3 toes lol.

I've been reading up on PGP and SPD recently as I have terrible shooting pains down my left bum cheek and leg when I walk or have sat a certain way for a while which might be PGP but the I also have pains more to the front and down below when I turn over in bed at night or when I lift my legs up to get dressed (or today when I had to turn on my side on the scanning table so they could get a better view of my baby) and even when I'm not doing any of those things its like a constant dull ache. Is that anything like what you've experienced? x
