Teach or self taught?

have a 28 month old, who is potty trained during the day. He pees sideways at the moment which is no big deal but it has started to spray everywhere if he does a big wee and was wondering if it was time for him to start pulling his foreskin back? Does he need to be taught this or will it just happen naturally?
