I've got my 6 week check coming up in the next couple of wks and i've gotta think about what contraceptive to use,i was on the normal pill for 15 years beofore we stared trying for a baby and it came out my system quick, periods went back to normal right away,so now i'm thinking i don't wanna change things, but as i'm breast feeding i can only take the mini pill not the one i was on,has anyone else had to do this and all been ok,i've never taken the mini pill and wondering if it has any side effects or has not been very good?
Am just worried about taking something different, but have gotta do something as am not planning another baby for a couple of years at least!!!!
The mini-pill (progesterone-only pill) is very effective when used correctly and is the usual method of contraception for women who are breast-feeding, which in itself provides some contraception, but not enough to rely on breast-feeding alone if you don’t want to fall pregnant.
The mini-pill needs to be taken at the same time each day and can sometimes cause irregular periods or cause them to stop altogether. Initially it may cause breast tenderness and skin spots but these symptoms usually resolve within a few months.
Overall, most women who are breast-feeding find the mini-pill a very good option for contraception.

Sorry,forgot-breast feeding tends to stop your periods anyway but still possible to get pregnant even when bleeding! but I breast fed first one and this one and didnt bleed for whole time I fed pretty much which is lovely! And you dont take a break with the mini either, just take it every day, good luck x

I'm on mine at the moment, had a little spotting at first but it settled down quite quickly. The one i'm on is good 'cerasette' as if you forget it you can take another one within a certain limit and it still covers you.. I went on another mini pill with my first and it made me feel nauseas and get spotty! There are a few different types of contraception that they can suggest that you dont have to remember like implant.. But if you had a good experience with pill in the first place then it could be for you.. Emily x
Hi, I was on the pill for 6 years, before seeing my doctor for my annual check up and he changed me to the mini pill because I get migraines and he said that the regualar pill wasn't safe for me (after being on it for 6 years?!) Anyway so I went on the minipill for about a year before stopping the pill and starting ttc. Once I stopped, I got a period every 2 weeks, which was a pain at the time but i think that's what helped me conceive so quickly (we were told that it would probably take us over 18 months to conceive by my husbands doctor because of his weight problems) but actually convieved in 8 weeks (which was like 4 ovulations/periods) The doctor told me that it's easier to conveive coming off the mini pill than the regular pill. They only thing that I don't like on it is that you don't have regualar bleeds like you do on the normal pill. It just arrives as and when it likes! But tbh, i have no more migraines and really don't notice any side affects at all. x
