My answer would have to be no. We didn't get our first choice of school but after lots of heart ache she has settled. We are hoping to move so will be closer to our first choice but really don't want to move schools now. Unless the school is in special measures I wouldn't worry. As the head pointed out at my daughter's school, they spend more time in our care and it's about what you put in aswell as the teachers. It's up to us to get involved in what our children are doing and be involved in making the school the best place.
thats what i think too. far too many parents seem to expect the school their kids attend to do literally everything for the child which just isnt on. anyway schools can do a turn around but think they need support to do it. i wouldnt be totally happy sending lily to a school in special measures but as far as im concerned she will hopefully go to whatever school we live nearest to at the time. tbh think worst thing they ever did was give too much of a choice to parents of primary school aged children- whats wrong with just sending them to their local school? x x

I didnt know about all this lying to get kids into certain schools! When we moved house the other year, one of the criteria of moving was to be in a catchment area for a good school, our village school has an excellent reputation which is one of the reasons we moved here. I have worked in most of the schools in this region so I have always thought about it I guess, which ones I liked and which ones I felt safe in for future offspring! Some of the ones in my old area were atrocious, one school I worked in briefly was in the middle of some rather nice houses and the lads were chucking rocks at one of the houses on their way home - a pregnant lady walked out and shouted at them to stop...so they chucked rocks at her too! We reported it to the headteacher immediately with a view to phoning the police but she said that her pupils don't behave that way and we must have been mistaken! (needless to say, she isnt there anymore!) I would certainly be worried if I thought my son/daughter would be tormented on their way home or in the playground at a particular school, not sure if I would lie because I can't stand lying...but then we all lie when it is necessary, to protect someone or something I guess. xx

u know wat i dnt get? people who apparently rent out a flat or house in the catchment area of the school they want their little darlings to go. i mean if you can afford to do that you might as well pay to privately educate your kids be less hassle all round wouldnt it? dont get me wrong if you pay taxes and you and your family were born here you are more than entitled to have your kids educated by the state but ye gods there is no way id pay some money grabbing landlord rent and then leave the property empty! x x

I'd like to say I wouldn't but I don't know!!!!! The school I always wanted my son to go to is spitting distance from my front door, so I don't really have to worry about braking the law as it is our closest school. I moved back to my old village when my son was 7 months old so he could go to this school, also the schools in the surrounding villages are good schools too. I would find it difficult to collect him from a different school as my OH takes the car to work at about 10 and public transport is a joke around here. He is due to start next September so will just have to wait and see if he gets in or not.

I wouldnt lie but id deferently move to get into a better catchment area. There is no way my children (when the time comes) will go to school around where I live now so we are already planning to move in the next couple of years and our daughter isnt even born yet! x

I'm a teacher and the one thing that annoys me is that I won't be able to have my children (if i'm ever lucky enough to be blessed with any) at my school as I live 20 mins away. My 2 nearest Primary schools are not the best around and if i'm striving to provide other people's children with the best education, then I should be allowed to have my children in that environment. I wouldn't lie as I have seen what happens with that in my own school this year but I really think it's unfair we can't just chose schools we like.
oh dear teacher makes a spelling mistake! sorry!
