If you look at all the statistics of who has died from swine flu and their medical conditions beforehand, pregnancy might be classed as a medical condition, but if you are healthy to start off with you should not worry and take it easy(which we all should be doing at this time)everything should br ok, everyong gets a cold now and then and it is NOT necessary flu, I looked at the NHS website last night, and the amount of people who think they have swine flu,but it is just a cold, was a great deal, I also looked at the rocg.org website and I cound't see anything there that having the vaccine was going to stop you from getting swine flu in the first place, it seems to me that this flu is just a bit stronger than normal flu, and if we all just keep up the xtra hygenie and the VitC as we should in winter anyway, it be a lot healthier than having more chemicals in our systems. But than again everyone is different and has their own opinion.

Hi, I had a phone call last night about the vaccine, and I,m not having it, I have 4 kids and 27 weeks pregnant, I have had a cold most of the time while being pregnant, and our nearest case from us is 150 miles away, most of the pregnant women who have got the swine flu have not been in this country. The vaccine might be a dead one but what affect will it have on yourself or the baby. This has been rushed through as the NHS and the goverment are worried, everyone is different and anyway the only people who have died from the virus had more serious conditions to start of with.
It is a hard choice, and I can see why if there is none near you you would choose not to, but for most of the pregnant women who have sadly died their only health condition was pregnancy and the strain it naturally puts on your respiratory system, I think that is why some people are choosing to go for it. Such a shame we are all having to make these choices

I listened to a programme on Radio 4 with a Professor of bacteria specialising in swine flu and he advised that the worst thing that could happen was that you would just get a sore arm and as I am now nearly 32 weeks this is deemed as being more risky than 8 weeks due to the lung capacity being smaller. After listening to this it and reading many other articles this put my mind at rest and I am booked in for the vaccintation tomorrow morning, so I'm hoping that all I will get is a sore arm!
It is clearly everyones choice and though I am not 100% I am very encouraged by Tulips29's post and am likely to have it. I think the idea of 'trying' to avoid it is not anywhere near safe. Even if you are the most hygenic person in the world you are talking to people everyday and you can catch it in proximity. Think of the numbers of people we all come into contact with if you take into account the people we have met, who they have met and so on. I am not scared about getting flu but there is clear evidence that states that pregnant women are more susceptible to problems with this strain than others...such a hard decision. x
know what you mean bout the fuss its causing- although when lily had it last week the symptons werent any worse than other flu they did make an appearance more suddenly and it was very aggressive for bout 48 hours- never seen anyone so ill from flu before although that could be her age and that lily never usually gets sick at all so this whole thing was a shock. im glad im not having to decide bout having this jab tbh x x
I get quite a lot of swine flu info through work. The reason they are more worried about this one is because it is hitting younger people a lot more than 'normal' flu, which is also causing it to spread more. And for us pregnant women, it is the risk of complications that is the worry, not necessarily the flu itself. I'm desperate to have the vaccine but no news from my doctor's surgery yet and at this rate I'll have had the baby before I get the jab!
personally i wouldnt! at end of day ur 31 wks gone! jus stay at home out of way of public places lol! u avent picked it up so far so i think u shld really think abt it! its def a personal chioce tho! only u can decide! but remem wen they brought tamiflu n they sed oh yeah every1 can take it, then not long afta they sed dont give it 2 children cuz it mankes them worse wiv the side effects!! nobody knows the side effects of unborn children! so id ave a gud long hard think abt it! hope this helps hun xxxx
I am doing the same I am trying to stay away from crowded places or anyone who has the sniffles!! Yes it may be a risky way to live but I think it is far less riskier than having something infected into my body that hasn't been rigorously tested and into my unborn baby to boot. I have read about some of the ingredients that are present in the injection and I certainly wouldn't knowingly have them injected into my body. At present we are all guinea pigs for this injection that has been forced through brief testing and therefore will not know any real side effects if any for months maybe years to come by which time it will be too late. It is a big decision to make weighing up the pro's and cons but I am definitely against it
