Just like to say thanks for all your comments, so far he's managed to sleep through once which was AMAZING, 1st nights kip in 8 months!
I still have a bottle ready just incase but he's not interested anymore, it's his bloody mobile he wants putting on to help him drift off. He's not waking as much though so slowly but surely we seem to be getting there x
hi i would say try staring a brand new routine and stick to it i would try and see what time he gets really sleepy and leave it as late as you can without him falling asleep then give him a bath bottle cuddle but dont let him fall asleep in your arms then when he is tired give him a blanket' use the same one every night and dont wash it too often so he knows the smell fluffy ones are great'
then give him dummy if he has one tell him its night time tuck him in tell him you will see him in the morning and to be a good boy
obviously he will wake up as that is his routine,so when he does dont say anything till he has dummy and blanket then just say night time'dont put mobile on or give him a drink as he is used to this and the next time he wakes will expect it again'
the next time he wakes do the same but dont say anything,he will probly scream and will be hard but will be worth it remember that
eventually after a few days when he wakes he will find his own blanket and dummy and send himself off back to sleep hope it helps let us know x
Hi Aimee, I've been told when they are that small 2/3 hours is quite normal. My daugther is 11 weeks old and her ever changing sleep patterns are slowly driving me demented! She dropped the 11pm feed when she was about 6 weeks and went from 7pm till around 3, then started going through for a couple of days but then reverted back to waking lots. So then decided to re-introduce the 11pm feed which she takes as a dream feed in the hope that she woukd go through till 7 - which she did, success! Until day 4 when she decided that was boring and has now woken up every day at 4am. So now i'm dream feeding at 11pm AND doing another in the middle of the night. What do I do?????
Although it's not good for us i'm glad to see that i'm not the only one and it's quite normal. My little girl is only 4 weeks tomorrow and doesn't go more than 2-3 hours without wanting feeding and that includes the night. Getting fed up of people telling me that it's not normal and I should try this and that. I have tried different things like holding her off from feeds for as long as possible but the health visitor said it's normal and she's gaining her weight really well so we're just going to have to go with the flow and hopefully she's start sleeping through a bit longer soon!xx
Hi, my son is 8 months old now and has never slept through the night. He would normally wake up 2-3 times a night and fall back to sleep after abit of his bottle.
Now however he is up 7-8 times a night not hungry though(but always have a bottle ready just incase).
He seems to wake for no reason, and screams the place down if just left on his own. As soon as i go in and put his mobile on he will go back to sleep for an hour or so before doing the same thing all night long!
Does anybody have any ideas how i could change things to make him sleep through? Or at least sleep for longer periods.
Thanks, Aimee x
Hi my son is 7 months and has also never slept through the night. I know how tied you must feel. I have spoke to a health visitor, who helps with slep problems and she has advised for my son to have an hours nap in the morning even if he cries as he will eventually cry himself to sleep, but keep checking on him every 5 mins or wait outside the door(it's really hard to do) and put him for a nap in the afternoon for hopefully 2 hours, as sleep induces sleep, also if your weaning try filling him up with food. I have done all of this and it has really helped, he's only waking twice a night instead of every hour i've only been doing it for 2 weeks so far, but hopefully it will get better. Wish you the best of luck. :)x
i wouldnt want to upset you but my first little girl did this till she was 2! i never worked out a way to stop her waking, she just grew out of it! she is nrly 6 now, and i have to drag her out of bed in the morning! she lo e sher sleep1
although i must say my LO (who is just 1) slept through from 10weeks! sounds like heaven but she sleeps so soundly i worry, and i end up still getting up 3-4 times in the night to check on her! lol!
my little ones almost one and has only slept through about 2 times, and you'll find he'll wake up more if he's teething because it'll hurt him also alex wakes up and screams if we put him to bed and he wakes up when no ones there. so its all normal good luck xxx
