Taking my 4 year old to a display tomorrow and I'm 21 weeks gone. Have seen an interesting video of a foetus in the womb (on-line somewhere) that upon hearing a loud noise jumps and really looks like its crying (with the mouth wide, chin wobble, gasping breathing thing that newborns do when they get themselves in a state) but bump will be under about three layers of clothes which will no doubt dampen any noise and its really not so different from day to day noise they must hear of people shouting, cars roaring and dogs barking (ours go nuts at the door if someone so much as walks past our gate!) you cant stop all loud noises whilst your pregnant and as long as your calm and are there with a comforting hand you and baby will be fine :) Have fun x
I really wouldn't worry. When I was pregnant with my son I went to a firework display and he was fine he jumped a couple of times and then settled this was when I was about 35 weeks at the time. Also when pregnant with him went to see The Bravery and Stereophonics all he did was wriggle a lot. I am now 37 weeks pregnant with my second and went to see Franz Ferdinand a couple of weeks ago and am going to a firework's display on saturday. It didn't seem to bother my son so can't imagine this baby will be any different (oh do I sound awful going to all these noisy places whilst pregnant ??????). My thinking is that your own voice must sound a lot louder to little ears than anything they can pick up from outside plus they are full of water. xx
Thanks feel better about it now will chance it! x
Yeah but think he means if we go to a display which i was planning on going to one on Sunday cos we're at Center Parcs. I've arranged a weekend away for us as a surprise and get to tell him tonight cos we're going in the morning. I love bonfires and fireworks so was really looking forward to going but not too sure now???

the load music thing makes me laugh when i was a week overdue in had tried everything and she refused to budge so i was in the car with Rob and i cranked the radio as load as it would go. Rob just looked at me as if to say WTF! i just replied well i've tried everything and none of it works so maybe i can blast her out. he almost wet him self laughing. ;P

its true they can get startled by loud bangs but that dnt have 2 mean theyre scared. my daughter is 2 now and didnt used to be frightened of any noise or anything at all for that matter til she reached one and then loads of sounds seemed to freak her out and some still do. shes ok with fireworks but hates lawnmowers, hairdryers, hoovers, foodmixers, electric knives... u get the picture. i wouldnt worry to much hun baby will be fine and wont remember it anyway. i was told they have memory of a goldfish at birth x x

OMG my spelling is terrible
I'm going to a display tonight so i will let you know but i'm sure it wont be bothered. I have got a dog that has a really loud bark which is probably louder than the fireworks will be and baby doesn't seem bothered when he suddenly barks. I jump out my skin. I am also trying to be as loud as possible ie loud music in my car so the baby gets used to loud noises so fingers crossed when it is born sleeps through loads of stuff (not sure if it will work) Hope you have a good time at centre parks you lucky thing. xxx
