hey i have a side by side and one in front the other. with the one in front the other i found it extremly heavy and i only have a 14 month old in the front. i cannot get it up curbs and you cant see where the front ends so im forever bumping into things. the side by side is very light and moves easy. there also smaller then they use to be so you do fit through most doorways. and the children can play together when your walking around. i would def reconend a side by side xxxxxxxxxxxx

I have had both types (DS's are 20months apart). When DS2 was a baby we had a side by side and this was brilliant as you could see both children easily and it was heavy at the front for lifting. If you get a side by side I would recommend alternating which child sits in which seat so that the wheels wear evenly. I did find the side by sides really difficult in the shops (I had a firstwheel twin, Mothercare duolite and a Maclaren techno double thingy) and on some pavements and paths. When my youngest got older (bout a yr old) I got the mothercare pheonix tandem and I loved it. Much easier around shops and walking back and forth to school. I would suggest putting your oldest in the back when the youngest is old enough as this really helps with the weight issue and made it loads easier to get up curbs.

as a childminder i've used both types and for me i have side by sides, i dont get on with tandems. i also cant do the new compact tandems like the stroller types or the phil and ted ones. if you want a recommendation i have the nipper 360 out n about, its great for all ages, loads of shopping space, really flat when folded, fits through most doorways and is the easiest to push that i've ever found (and i've got through a lot in 14 years !!!!)

You've got to think of things like, practial i.e do oyu have to get on/off public transport etc, do have space in the car etc. I had a tandem as i don't drive and have to use public transport. The only prob i found was that as teh eldest got older the pram did seem heavy to push although it was easier to get round shops, etc with. Hope this helps.

ive got to get a double too.

ive been advised to get a side by side one though as the bigger child goes in the front of the tandem which makes it heavy if u need to get up a curb or lift it like that in general.

I wanted to avoid a double by getting a board that goes on the buggy and for the first few months i could have new born in a sling thing but i dont think ita going to be possible!
