i've had 3 first was when i was 23. (she's in secondary school now and i feel old even though my youngest is only 4 lol) anyway, the best advice i was given was relax and dont be frightened of the pain. it might seem crazy but it really works. stand up for what you want whether its being in a certain position or if you want drugs etc but most of all RELAX and try to enjoy it (i know you're all thinking i'm mad now) dont be frightened.

i had all the pain releif they offer including 3epidurals! and none of it really helped the only thing any good was gas & air which i had for 5minutes before being sick! i had a back labour which was awfull & it hurt soo bad i thought i was prepared for labour & birth read everything i could went to birthing classes ect but none of it prepared me for what i felt & went through & im terrifeied of doing it again but i will be doing it all again in 4months because no matter how bad it is the pain doesnt last that long & has beautifull results

I get tears in my eyes over a paper cut lol. Birth is painful, but.. best way I can explain it is, you go into automatic mode. You know the is going to happen, there is nothing you can do about it. My LO had to be induced, and she was back to back. Rest assured that there is pain relief available if you need it, and at the end, you will have your baby. I remember during my labour watching diagnosis murder and eating a roast beef dinner with bakewell pudding and custard whilst hooked up to the drips lol xxxx

I have just had my 3rd baby and felt exactly the same as you about the birth. I ended up having to do it with just gas and air as babys heartrate kept dropping so I couldn't have anything else like I did with the other two. I won't lie to you - it was painful but in the end instead of fighting the pain I just relaxed and let my body take over and once I did the pain didn't seem so bad so that would be my advice to you. Besides, once you hold you baby in your arms and look into his/her eyes, the feeling of love that you get is so overwhelming that you forget the pain you have just been through!! xx
