Hi, just because you have not been through birth yourself should not stop you from being a sympathetic and supportive birth-partner to your friend.... she would not have asked you if she didnt feel comfortable and trust in you as a good friend to be someone she wants to share in this special and albeit scary experience. Stay focussed on her and try to be as attentive to her needs throughout as you can.. sometimes the pain and any pain relief may make her seem like a different person, dont take it personally and stay calm for her.
