just concieved

Hi Wanabemum27,

If you stay fit & healthy throughout your pregnancy you can work right up until about aweek or so before if you have a job that allows you to do this. (safe environment etc.)
But you can leave 11 weeks before you are due. The advantages at working longer is that if you are returning back to work after the baby is born you will get longer at home with the baby.
You do not have to tell your employer until you are ready. but sometimes it is a good idea to let a line manager know so if you are unwell or have to attend any apponitments they will understand. All employers have to honor any appointments that you have & they have to give you the time off for them.
Hope this helps.

Congratulations!
I found out i was pregnant literally about a week before starting a new job. I was really scared about telling them as I was on a temp contract but they were really pleased for me & were really good to me! I told them a week after starting (bout 7 wks). I think telling them asap is best plus they can make sure you arent doing anything you shouldnt be like lifting stuff.
I was supposed to work till 5 days before I was due(my decision) so I could have more time off after but I went for a growth scan at 38 weeks & ended up being induced. I had been to work that morning so I worked literally till the end!
A tip for keeping healthy & energised is to go swimming. The water supports your weight and helps with your breathing. I swam nearly every morning before work right to the end. I would get up at 6 to go. I could tell the difference though if i didnt go I wouldnt have as much energy if I hadnt been swimming. I ran & went to the gym aswell till I was about 6 months.
Im sure thats why I had a short labour (1hr 7mins!)& I only put on about a stone aswell.
Hope this helpsx

Hi there, congrats again hope ur doin well. Well im not speaking from personal experience here cos as u know im stil trying to concieve myself, but a girl i know who is expecting her baby in may, has just left the workplace on early maternity leave due to being far too tired to possibly continue with her duties, She has a huge bump so is carrying a lot of weight but when i spoke to her she just said she cant possibly continue as she is just too tired. So anyway she has left but at the beginning of her pregnancy she was saying yeah im gonna work right up to the week before the baby is due i want as much time with the baby at home as is possible. Fair enough and we all admired her, but when it got to it she just couldnt face it and has gone early..however, saying that, every person is different no 2 pregnancies will be the same, so its best to wait and see how u feel nearer time n if u are ok then keep working. As for telling them i would wait til u are at least 12 week then tell them, that way its personal to you and if, god forbid it, anything was to happen you do not have to go into work and tell them. Sorry i know im rambling now, hope that helps anyway. Are you gonna find out what ur having then or is it gonna be a surprise on the day?x
