I think it varies for every baby, but usually by eight months a baby will be able to sit up unsupported.
well my eldest son started sitting by himself at 5 months old and my mates baby wasnt till she was bout 8 months , he will do it as soon as he is ready to xx
My daughter sat up on her own for the first time around 6 months. She started to commando crawl at 9 months and crawled properly on her hands and knees at 12 months. She pulls herself up on the furniture and cruises round happily but is not walking on her own yet and she's now 14 months. Take no notice of anyone who says they should be doing things by a particular age, they will all develop at their own pace. Don't worry unless your baby gets a long way past the age he should be doing something.
My son is sitting now and he is 8 months. Don't worry too much about when they will do it. As long as they do it, who cares. I get told by nearly every mother I meet is he not doing this yet or that yet. It's not a competition. Why does evryone want them to do everything early I'm glad he is still a baby and don't wish his life away.
Our daughter sat up on her own from 4mth, we used a bumbo seat which we feel personally has helped her a little, shes now 7mth and will sit up unsupported for long periods of time and pulls herself up to sit and crawl.
its different with all. my son sat up at 4 months and walked at 7 months. however a friend of mine, her boy is 6 months and he isnt sitting up yet. i guess they just do it when they are ready.
at what age will my baby be able to sit up on his own?
