I was the birthing partner for my sister when she went into labour in June. It was amazing to see how much courage she had and also that it didn't look as bad as I had thought. She did need an episiotomy though which didn't look great!!
Having just been asked to be my friends' birthing partner, I am absolutely over the moon if not a little nervous. Has anybody else out there been a partner to their friend? I'd really like to hear about your experiences.
I have set up a group called Birth partners if anybody else would like to join!
Thanks
Last weekend I was completely petrified at the prospect of helping my girlfriend through labour but felt a little safe in the fact I had 2 weeks to prepare.
Little did I know that our wonderful daughter, Isobel, would choose to come into the world 2 weeks early!
I think being a birthing partner is a daunting and scary thought but if you're there throughout the pregnancy experience and take the advice you're both given you will be absolutely fine.
