Bilingual / multilingual babies

Hello, Bonjour, Hola, I am French, my husband is from South America and we live in England. We both speak in Spanish. Ideally, I would like my son ( who is nearly 7 months old) to speak French, Spanish and English. We are planning to live in France in a few years. I am worried that my baby will get very confused with all those different languages and as a consequence will maybe meet some speech difficulties/delay . I am planning to buy some CD and books and/or games to help him to learn all those different languages. Do you think that it is necessary and if there is any mum who is in the same case as mine , could you kindly give me some suggestion/ideas/ advice? Thanks a lot.

Hi,I'm from Croatia and my husband is English.I've been speaking to our daughter in croatian and her dad in english. She's 15 months and not speaking just yet,but seems to understand both of us.She points at things we ask her. Whatever you do don't force your son to speak, when he is ready he will speak.Get the CD and books and i'm sure he will pick-up languages through play. hope this helps

Hello
I am Turkish and my husband is English. Since the birth of our son I have been speaking to him in Turkish and my husband has been speaking to him in English and now he is age 4 and completely bilingual. We live in England and I have not got many relatives etc here so I got the Turkish satellite at home which I watch with my son. I think that was a good thing to have too.I have also been reading to him since early days in Turkish as well. I hope this helps.

My baby will speak English and Slovak. Her 2nd cousin lives in Texas with Slovak mum & Spanish speaking dad, from Uruguay. She mixes up all the languages but now knows the difference because each person speaks a different language to her separately. My husband will speak always Slovak and I will always speak English to our baby, that way she will be bilingual. Hope this helps.
