This happened to me too, I belled at about 6 weeks and thought i was having a m/c but when i had an ultrsound scan they could detect a heart beat and I went on to have a normal pregnancy (I am now 33 weeks). Think it depends on the colour of the blood - dark blood in old blood and bright red blood in new blood and a bit more worrying. If you have tummy cramps and back ache see a doc straight away.

Hi, i've never posted anything before, but i am pregnant with my second baby (only about 8 weeks pregnant) and I have started to bleed - well spot really. This didn't happen with my first pregnancy so i'm really worried. Has thei happened to anyone else?

Hi Tilly, Welcome to the site. Our resident midwife has said that although many women spot or bleed in early pregnancy, many go on to have normal pregnancies and healthy babies. It is however, always advisable to get any bleeding checked by your GP, (more so if you are experiencing cramping as well) who can refer you to an early pregnancy clinic if things look more serious. See our article on bleeding in pregnancy http://www.gurgle.com/articles_Article.aspx?NodeID=22865 for more information on this subject.
