I was pregnant (for the first time) and got really excited and told family, friends and even people at work (I work in a small office) before my first scan. Unfortunately I miscarried at 8 weeks. I am really glad that people knew what was happening to me, everyone was really supportive and I was able to talk about how I was feeling. It really helped me. The good news is I am 9 weeks pregnant as again. Fingers crossed this time round.

After 12 weeks is a good time for extended family and possible work colleagues but you might want to tell a close friend & or your mum a little earlier as the tempation to talk through your excitement and worries can be overwelming. Let me know how you get on and any questions just ask and I will try and help. Lizzie

I agree with Christopher, not till after 3 months. This can be really hard because the first three months is when you feel your worst (morning sickness and extreme tiredness) and also when you need a seat on the bus!! Still, resist telling anyone until you have the all clear
