Sibling age gaps

Sibling age gaps

Age gaps can play a big role in sibling rivalry and all children experience different forms of jealousy at some age.   Research shows that the two to four year gap often produces the worst sibling rivalry, although it’s the most common gap to leave. The problem seems to be less if the gap is larger than five years, or smaller than 18 months, but plenty of parents report rivalry between these ages too. Each child and their relationship to others is totally unique, and even your we . . .

hi, and thanks for replying to my post. for lazydaisy, i was throwing up EVERY day for about 7 weeks with my first and i only was physicly sick once with y second, having said that, i had nausia really bad with the second one and just wanted to be sick! so i dont which one i prefer! i had a 3 1/2 year gap for my first two, so i think that is why i am so worried, i dont want my kids to close or to far. my daughter came in for his birth witch was fantastic! so i would like for them both to be there next time round so he needs to be atleast 3 years old for that, there is so much to think about! i think my usband is starting to think its a great idea to (hey, thats import :) ) i agree that there is never a right time, i had troubles with my kidneys that required surgery while i was preg (then more surgery after to reverse it) and they cant tell me if it will happen again, so that is a worry, my kids need me to be with then, mentally so i dont wont to be worrying about things like that again. it such a hard decition. what i keep coming back to is if it all goes a head and we have a beautiful bouncing baby we will bw so happy about our decition!

I don't think there is ever a right time to have a baby. There will always be career issues, money worries, should we move house, what will my first child think??? It's probably best to follow your instincts. Having an 18 month old now is good because it means they will be over two when the next baby comes. They might even be able to help you out! My sister had her babies too close together (she got pregnant 4 months after giving birth) and although she loves both her babies it has been tough.

Hi mickiemumof2 I also have an 18 month old and am wondering when to have my second. It seems I have only just got used to sleeping through the night again and am enjoying having a glass of wine. The tought of going through morning sickness agin in pretty scary. Were both your pregnancies the same? I'm hoping I won't feel so sick next time.
