TV

I try not to let her watch any, although sometimes I wish she would! It's nice to have 5 minutes peace! but because she's not used it she's not bothered with it really! I think a little bit isn't harmful but too much can't be great for them. My friend lets her kids watch tv all day and her son's first word was 'back pack' from Dora the Explorer!!!! how gutting!

How much TV do you let your baby watch? Is it OK for them to watch TV?

My little one watches In the night garden which is fantastic for tiny tots-also taking me back to my rainbow and chorlton and the wheelies days-had forgotten about cockleshell bay till it was mentioned!! She also gets to watch Fifi and the flower tots which is fun and friendly but id never park her in front of the tv to "babysit her" I have a 14 an 10 yr old both who watched earlt telletubbies and thomas the tanks and both behave absolutely fine!!

I should probably say that I watched kids programmes when I was little and I seem to be fine!

I recon it is OK to watch a bit of TV - I think it is a bit scaremongering to link autism and TV. By the way I am loving In The NIght Garden!

I really would not encourage your baby to watch tv. There was a study conducted in America which looked at the link between autism and children under 2 watching tv. They recognised a small risk. I think it would be far more beneficial for you to read to your baby and look at picture books. Have you thought of purchasing some stories/ nursery rhymes on tape?
