Hiya, i have a 14 week old boy who has nappy rash. I got him weighed on monday and the hv noticed his rash, she said it was thrush and so prescribed some chamolozine cream (sorry cant spell it lol). I tried it on him once and it was making the redness even worse. I read the side affects and it said may cause a burning sensation so i stopped using it. Sudocrem seems to work sometimes and ive also tried vaseline. But my mum said it could be his nappies, i use sainsburys little ones, as pampers dont have something in them like cheaper ones. any ideas on how to treat it?
Nappy rash is very common in babies - some are more prone to it than others. Occasionally it can be down to a thrush infection which needs a specific antifungal cream.
It may be worth going back to your health visitor and
getting her to may be give you a different cream that might suit your baby.
If it is a thrush infection then sudocrem and vaseline will not treat it.
Once the thrush has been treated, obviously pay particular attention to nappy changes etc. and maybe use a product call Bepanthen which has been clinically proven to help prevent nappy rash: http://www.bepanthen.co.uk

My favourite one is metanium cream. But maybe you should see your GP because you'll need to treat the thrush, there must be another cream you could get that doesnt make the redness worse...
Hi there,if its definately thrush then it neads to be a specialist cream for this, but youd see if it was thrush,it wouldnt just be a red rash. Anyway after three kids and nannying for lots more ive used all the creams and have to say that some work for some babies but not for others. The one thing ive found that works for all is tea tree gel-not cream but gel. You see,a crea just lies on top of the skin but a gel is absorbed into it,treating it at the core. Its readily available from herbalist, health food stores, and some pharmacies.Herbalists will try to sell you infant starflower cream for nappy rash but again this is a cream, just ask for tea tree gel and i guarantee itll be gone within 2 days--as long as its ntot thrush!!!!
hiya hun when my little boy was a baby he ended up with really bad nappy rash i tried loads of creams and the best i found was drapolene i used that and kept his nappy off when possible. hope this helps xx
