Have any of you experienced any tears through birth? if so what was it like? My son 1st baby came quick 7hrs start to finish & I had a 3rd degree tear which was very uncomfortable & upsetting. To make it worse I also tore internally up my bum SORRY TOO MUCH INFO!!! But hey giving birth aint for the faint hearted is it? Since giving birth about 7 months ago I have been on lactulose, and now fibre drinks which are grose!!! I have it on repeat prescription as I need a sachet a day I did have two sachets a day. But still having very HARD stools very painfull!! Im trying sugar free polos and also milk thistle to help soften but no luck so far. I would like to try for another baby next year after I get married but it`s quite nerve racking. Has anyone had a 3rd degree tear then went on to give birth again would love to know it would help make my mind up. x :)

Hi Hun
I had a third degree tear with my second and last child.I had an cut with ventouse which made me rip from front to back and inside.I did have Lactose for about 3 months but i go normally now thank goodness. Have you tried orange juice? I was told to drink plenty as it gets your system 'going' sort of speak.
Hope someone replies hun with ref to giving birth after a tear. x
I had a bad third tear 8 years ago and it took 5 operations over 5 years for me to recover so I hope your recovery is much easier than mine. I am now pregnant with baby number 2 and am having a planned c-section to avoid further tearing and the risk of a stoma bag. However, I do know of a woman who had a vaginal delivery after a third degree tear and with correct management she avoided major tearing. It all depends on whether you can get the right support for another vaginal birth or whether you would prefer to opt for a c-section. My doctor insisted on a c-section and I totally agree with him. I find lots of fruit helps with bowel issues and drink LOTS of water and walk for exercise everyday.
