Winter colds..

My daughter seems to be permanently full of cold! It's not bad enough to go to the doctor, and when I have taken her there he has sent me away with nothing.. are there any magic cures out there? she isn't miserable but I have never seen so much snot in my life and she hates having her nose wiped!

At night rub a bit of Olbus oil on a muslin and leave it near her cot (but out of reach so she can't tangle up in it). This will help to clear her airways at night. You can also buy saline drops which dissolve the snot if it gets too bad. Another option could be a nasal aspirator which basically sucks the snot out (such a nice thought!) but you should only do it twice a day to stop your baby's nose getting too dry. I have seen little feet that fit on two legs of the cot and basically tilt the cot up at the head end so that the snot can run downwards and it makes breathing a lot easier. Hopefully one of these solutions will make your daughter a little more snot free!
