Hello all. My friend has an 11 week old girl who does not sleep at all - ever. During the day she'll only sleep on the boob and as soon as my friend moves, even if the baby seems to be out cold she wakes straight up. They spend hours trying to get her to sleep at night and all the while she is passing huge amounts of wind. When they finally do get her to sleep, if they even flinch she wakes up and is screaming in pain again and passing yet more wind and it takes hours to get her to sleep again, then she'll wake up wanting to feed and it then takes yet more hours to get her to sleep... they are averaging 3 hours sleep a night and that's it, unless my friend stays in the dark all night and her hubby sleeps in the spare room. They have tried all the colic treatments, cutting out dairy, baby massage, even an osteo and nothing seems to work... Bless them I don't know how to help except ask you guys! Can anybody help? Thank you!

Wow, they must be having such a hard time! How exhausting! I would reccommend expressing a little milk and putting colief drops in it, if they havent tried already. it sounds like they have exhausted every avenue, it might just be a case of having to ride it out until their little one's digestive system matures. My little boy is quite windy and often wakes up with the pain, what i do is burp him every 5 minutes during a feed, and wind him in several different positions after a feed. also, my doctor advised me to give him a little calpol at night time and it works a treat. i would advise them to get to the doctors as although it sounds like colic, they mmay be able to prescribe something for the wind, i know there is drugs available for windy babies. hope this helps!

yes a dummy could help and also when my daughter decides she only ways to sleep on someone I wrap her in a warm fleecey blanket and hold her, then when she is asleep i geeeently put her down sometimes even with a tshirt than me or her dad has worn so she thinks because of the warmth and the smell that we are still holding her. he he! Give it a try, it may work!

a dummy..or give her a bottle with colief drops in it and then if still awake 20mins later cool boiled water to bring all wind up..try a baby musical mobile with a dummy? either that or u just take her to the gp for somthing to help the wind..if u try formula in a bottle get cow n gate its the best..
