Hi Everyone,
My nextdoor neighbour's son (10 months old) has chicken pox and she has asked me if I want to bring my little boy round (he is one in a couple of weeks) so he can catch it. I know it's best to get it over with the younger they are and so I am really considering the idea, but what does everyone think -- should I take the opportunity now, or should I wait for him to catch it at some point in the future?

Definitely go for it - get it over and done with - my boys had it last summer - one caught it from a little friend (after a kiss) then the other had it 2 weeks later (it takes about that long to get it. Also make sure there is close contact - it isn't as infectious as its made out to be. My boys came into contact with chicken pox several times before they caught it. Better to have it when you're prepared for it - it won't spoil a holiday or some other special event in the future if they catch it.
Go for it and get it over with.I was 21 when I finally caught it and it really left me scared and I was sooo ill too.
hi my lill girl is 13 months and in feb my nephew had chicken pox and my health visitor told me take her round to play with him, i did this and she didnt get it, go with wat u want.

Hi Jess
I have an 11 month old, born on 15th June. My niece had chicken pox a month or so ago and I was also asked if I wanted to let them mix so that Georgie could catch them. I felt a bit unsure about it but he did have one play day with her. He never actually caught chicken pox though. I think in future I am just going to let it happen naturally. Good luck. Dx
