the bane of the winter... Flo has a cold and I kept her inside for the first 3 days, but now whenever I take her outside her nose and eyes start streaming instantly. Should I go back to being inside all the time or will she just get used to the outdoors again? I hate that she's not getting fresh air, and selfishly I need to get out for a walk once in a while too!

Hiya! We had the same thing. My little boy Ellis has been nicknamed Donkey Boy since the day he was born because he snorts and hee-haws like a tidgy donkey. Apparently he too is a normal, healthy little boy. The first cold he got was just awful!! I stayed up all night for 3 consecutive nights just to keep an eye on him. My GP thought I was bonkers.

A friend of mine gave me some Medised to give to him. It's available over the counter at boots, or there's Calcold as well. It has an antihistamine and paracetamol and it did seem to work a lot better than just calpol. Why not have a word with the pharmacist about these two medicines? Hope that helps. K x

My son Sam is 6 and a half months old and has always been a snorty boy (very audible breathing!) - the doctors and health visitors said it's nothing to worry about, and he's pretty robust. However he's now got his first proper nasty cold with a horrible chesty cough too. I've been giving him calpol or calprofen at night if it's really bad, but I worry that I'm not doing enough to help him. Also, his dad is asthmatic, and I'm worried that Sam may have an attack too if his cold is making his breathing difficult. Any suggestions for what else I can do, or what to look out for to make sure I'm not missing something that needs medical attention?
