i had a wonderful water birth in the midwifery led unit after 2 emergency sections. it is possiable and the risks acossdiate with a repeate section are higher than those of a natural birth. dont feel pressured but your body can do it, you just have to have the right support. tpye in vbac into search engine to read some more about it. it is the most amazing uplifting experince you will ever have.
I have had 2 previous C/S, first in 2001 because i had preclampsia and baby was in distress, 2nd in 2003, i was overdue and told i'd have to have C/S. I am now 20 weeks pregnant on my third and would love to have a natural on this one but have been told by my constultant there is no chance of me having a natural birth. I am very disappointed as i was hoping for a big family but am not risking everything for a potentially 4th C/S. My advice is to keep an open mind and really think about the birth you want.
Can anyone give me any bog-standard advice on having a so-called natural birth (are any of them?) after a caesaean? Have a very pushy midwife who wants me to go for normal delivery but have heard horror stories about old scars splitting etc etc etc. Had first baby 3 years ago and am due 01.02.08 and am nervous as hell this time round!
Hi, my last baby was meant to be a natural birth after a caesarean 3 years previous.
You should have your baby however you feel most comfortable regardless of what you're told to do. My midwife never tried to push me either way but I decided I'd rather natually, although if I could do it over I'd of opted for another c-section. My last birth was very mismanaged, I wasn't progressing, so they put me on the drip, then my scar did start to split, and I had to have another c-section. This then turned into a nightmare as they removed the stitch after only 4 days, when it should have been 6 days, and the wound then split for which it is only just healing now 11 wks later. You just need to be fully aware of all your options so you can decide for your self which way to give birth. Even after my problems I wouldn't go for natual anymore as this only happens to 1 in probably thousands of people.
There are many women that have a Natural Birth after CC, my friend did in June this year and she actually had a lovely home water birth in her living room using just gas and air - no problems at all. I think what you need to keep in mind is that this is your birth experience and not your midwife's! You have to go with your instinct to have the birth you want, it is not up to your midwife it is up to you, so once you have decided just let her know and also let her know it is not up for discussion (unless you want to discuss it) she just needs to make the arrangments for you. The web has lots of good advise too. If your midwife keeps being pushy ask to change to a differnt one - they have to let you. Pregnancy is not the time to get stressed - Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.
