hiya ive only got 15 weeks left and am dead worried about labour! i read in an article that woman actually have a bowel movement or urinate. i would be so embarrased to do that! so i was just wondering if it does actually happen and is it true the hospital give medication b4 u push to stop any unwanted urinating or bowel movement? i just would like to know what ive got ahead of me so i can be prepared, all the woman i talk to are never honest with me about what giving birth and labour is really like.if you could be honest with me i would appreciate it thanx x

everyone worries about this i bet i did but once you start pushing all you worry about is getting your baby in your arms and even if you did urinate or pass a bowel movement you probably wouldn't notice and the midwives and doctors wouldn't mention it and would discreetly dispose of any waste.
hi ya, what is sleep.lol im so uncomfatable at night, that anyway i lay is a problem. i feel my baby stretching out, sure she does it to wind me up. lol i find sleeping on the opposite side to the way she is laying a bit more cosy but also have a pillow between my knees to level my posture. otherwise im up alnight. i found having a bath just before i go bed tends to relax me a bit and then i sleep quite well just cant wait now 2wks to go and counting. lol so how is everything with u?

hiya im worried bout it too and im due i 4 wees but from wat i hear u get a dodgy stomach b4 u go into labour to help clear out ur bowls is this true??
I got a clearout from both ends 2-3 days beforehand but i didnt realise it at the time and put it down to a dodgy meal. But i was so worried about having a bowel movement during labour when i was getting nearer my due date so when i felt baby was on the way i sat on the loo for half hour before i left for the hospital - but of course since i was mostly constipated during pregnancy it was not meant to be! i didnt have a bowel movement during labour according to my fella who was with me through it - although my daughter was in a hurry to get here once my waters broke so i dont think i would've had enough time even if my body wanted to. But its true what everyone has said once your in the ward and your well into labour it is the last thing on your mind - you've got the pain and obviously concerns about baby being ok first and foremost and even if you have a bowel movement you wouldn't notice unless someone told you and unless your birthing partner does that i very much doubt it would come up!!! Dont worry you'll be fine!! Good luck x

hiya, i didnt have a bowl movment or urinate when i was givin birth, my mate urinated while giving birth and i know people who have had a bowel movement while in labour. dont worry yourself bout it, its not rare and pluss u are pushing in that area, to be honest the midewives are prob used to it, they just clear it up and carry on.i think u can have tablets to make u go 4 a bowel movement b4 u give birth so u dont go while in labour.but dont worry its perfectly normal :) xxx

If you look on you-tube you can actually watch lots of real births that people have video'd and put up there...the baby does squash your bowel on the way out and if there is anything in there it will be squashed out, but at the births 'ive been too its normally one wee poo, and the midwife wipes it away immediatley...its totally normal so don't be embarrased, the midwives deal with it everyday.
