hiya, my little girl is 19+5 for the past fortnight she has been waking up at night chewing her fist but not demanding her feed, she normally goes from 8pm untill about 4-5am. the past two nights she has started to wake at 2.30am for her feed. Could this be the start of her needing to be weaned, any advice would be great. x

hello no this is not a weaning cue its a i am learning new things and growing cue. There is no need to introdue foods untill they are at least 6 months and even then its not nesscary. I skipped 'weaning 'foods altogther sat my daughter at the table with us from when she could sit and if there was something on out plate she could have a go at she did brocli, cauli, potatoes soft steamed carrots were favoirtes untill she grew some teeth now the world is her oyster. She has now got the pincer grip with her finger and thumb so baked beans and rice are new foods to try !!!

I am not sure if she needs weaning BUT my 4mth old is doing the same, when I asked my HV at the weaning session yesterday she thinks it could be a growth spurt. I would ask your HVisitor and see what they say. I dont know if my little one is starting to teeth as he doesnt take his fist out of his mouth and is dribbling too.

I am going to leave it two weeks (they say to leave it that long for growth spurts) and then talk to my HV again.

How much of a feed is she taking at 2.30am?

I am not an expert just someone going through a similar thing !
hiya, she takes 7oz, this is her full feed. Last night she went untill 5am but she had a late night but we think that she could be teething also, its all so confusing lol, sometimes she will go a full 5 hours between feeds and others only 2.5/3 hours, im at my hv tomorrow so will see what they suggest. thanks, its nice to know there are others experiencing the same thing. x
